Monthly Update to Customers, Employees, Suppliers, and Friends of Kaiser Aluminum:

In Today’s Court Hearing

The Court approved the sale of several surplus land parcels near the Mead, Washington, smelter. None of these sales affects the ability of the Mead smelter to operate.  The company also obtained Court approval on a few fairly narrow technical and legal matters. The next Court hearing is scheduled for January 26, 2004.

Prior to Today’s Hearing, the Court also Approved the Following Motions

  • Extension of exclusivity through the end of February 2004.
  • Bidding procedures for two additional surplus parcels at Mead.

Liquidity Update

The company continues to have substantial liquidity of approximately $190 million.

As the year draws to a close, I want to extend a word of thanks to customers, employees, suppliers, and other friends of Kaiser Aluminum. Your ongoing support has enabled the company to continue its steady progress toward emergence from Chapter 11 in mid-2004. Best wishes to all for the holiday season.

Jack A. Hockema
President and Chief Executive Officer
